Joanne was born in Sydney and moved to Queensland when she was 5.
She was a dreamy and passionate child and drew from an early age.
When Joanne was in her twenties she did a visual arts course at Brisbane TAFE for three years. Her teacher found her work unique and emotionally moving. This feedback spurred Joanne on to become a full time artist working from her home studio in Brisbane.
Joanne is an expressionist and is inspired by Joy Hester and Louise Bourgeois. Her paintings can be impacting, moving, and healing, and speak to the viewer of her inner struggles. Her work is always authentic.
” My paintings are an expression of my inner world. Through my art I’ve found the courage to break the silence.” Joanne Braddy.
Audiences have admired her work at multiple group exhibitions in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, and successful solo shows in Brisbane and Melbourne. C Gallery has represented Joanne in Brisbane. She has also received People’s Choice and Highly Commended awards with Art For Margins, and was a finalist in both the Moreton Bay Art Awards in 2013, and the Cook Hill Gallery “We Get By” Competition in 2015.
